This is the traditional hop for a real Czech-style pilsner. With it's low levels of alpha acids it's a typical aroma hop where it has a noble, spicy and flowery character. Has high levels of polyphenols which helps prevent oxidation in the finnished beer.
Commonly used in Czech pilsner and lager, German lager and ale, Belgian ale.

Saaz, or Saazer as this variety is called in Germany, is one of the four classic "noble" aroma hops, together with Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Spalter and Tettnanger. Officially registered in 1952 but is said to be over 700 years old.

Character: Noble, spicy and flowery.

Cohumulone: 23 - 28 %
Total oils: 0,4 - 0,8 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Poor, 45-55% alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20 °C
