Hallertauer Mittelfrüh is a delicate aroma hop traditionally used in German lagers. Has a classical and subtle flavor and aroma of flowers and spice.
Commonly used in German ale, lager and wheat, American lager.
Known as one of the four noble hops together with Spalt, Tettnanger and Saaz, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh is over a hundred years old. Up until a few decades ago it was the dominant hop grown in Hallertau , from where it also got it's name.
Character: Subtly flowery and spicy.
Origin: Germany
Typical values: Alpha acids (correct alpha value is printed on the label): 3 - 5 %
Cohumulone: 18 - 28 %
Total oils: 0,7 - 1,3 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Poor, 52-58% alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20°C
Possible replacements: Hallertauer Tradition, Mount hood
