Prevents hops etc. from getting sucked into the dip tube and blocking it.
Made from HDPE and 50 Mesh 304 Grade stainless steel. Can be boiled or sanitised with most detergents. The plastic HDPE is over moulded onto the stainless mesh to make a seamless finish. The end cap can easily pop off for cleaning.

The float can be mounted in three different places on the filter, to determine how close to the surface you want to suck up liquid.
